Well, sometimes you gotta admit when a dog's a dog. Wish you the best of luck but I took the shambles of my $13 position and invested it in AVTC at $18. A good call so far...wish I'd done it (or just about ANYTHING other than hold) earlier.

Interactive Voice Response System From Periphonics Enhances
Student Services At Southwest Texas State University

Bohemia, New York...June 17, 1998...Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, with an initial purchase of a
60-port VPS 7500 system, recently upgraded to a 96-port Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system from Periphonics
Corporation. The system, called CATS, an acronym for Computer Assisted Touch-tone Service, currently uses applications
that include obtaining hold information and housing assignments, registration for classes, obtaining class schedules and grade
reports, inquiring on the status of financial aid application and awards.

"Around 1990, Southwest Texas State decided that an IVR-based registration system would greatly improve service to a
student body of more than 20,000 students. To support this decision, one only had to look at the number of successfully
implemented systems at other schools," says Voice Systems Analyst Raquel Voytowich.

"The system had to have an established track record of reliability," said Student Record Team Leader Randy Young, "and had
to be able to support anticipated growth requirements without having to add another unit for every small increment of
expansion."

After installation of the CATS system, a survey of the student body, taken after the initial registration, showed that 61% of
students liked the system, especially the convenience of registering for classes from home. The University is planning to add
additional applications, including credit card payment for tuition and inquiry on one's admission status.
