Ibexx, it looks like you may have been a victim of classic Washington spin.

Re-read the excerpt from Torricelli's letter:

However, I am not yet convinced that further regulation of this innovative and robust industry will be good for the consumer or the American economy in the long run. I will continue to press for vigorous enforcement of the anti-trust laws already on the books, and I will be sure to keep your views in mind should new legislation come before the Senate.


That happens to be Scott MacNeally, Joe Klein and Orrin Hatch's position on the matter. It's just that their definition of "vigorous enforcement of the anti-trust laws already on the books" includes going after Microsoft.
