The gist of my response remains true. Penicillin is still used a lot. We got off on a tangent on the staph aureus issue, which was partly my fault for not being more precise and for carrying on the staph a. discussion. This clouded the underlying point I was trying to make. Penicillin is still used frequently, and not everything is resistant to it. Also, severe allergic reactions are not unique to PCN. They can also occur with almost any other antibiotic, and people can die from them. I also don't see any relationship between the perils of using PCN and Viagra.
