E*Trade to Start Online Brokerage in U.K. With Hauser, FT Says

Tokyo, June 11 (Bloomberg) -- E*Trade Group Inc., a U.S.-
based provider of online brokerage services, will announce today
a U.K. joint venture with Hermann Hauser, a venture capitalist,
to provide online dealing in the U.K. market, the Financial Times
reported. E*Trade is expected to contribute $6.4 million to the
venture, with about a third of it in cash and the rest in
technology. The venture, called E*Trade UK, will include Hauser's
online equities data service, Electronic Share Information, the
report said.

Earlier this month, E*Trade and Japan's Softbank Corp. said
they will set up an online securities company in Japan to take
advantage of deregulated trading commissions.
