How much you paid? Did you compare it with a PC? Are you a MAC user only in the past or
you use both MAC and PC? Just curious.

Thanks,

--------

I paid around $3k. Yes, I use PCs at work (75mhz Win 3.1 Gateway in my office, and 15 200mhz Win95 Dells in our classroom lab). In fact, I teach how to use Win95 (stupid human factors: "To shut dowm, go to the start menu"), SPSS, Excel, Word, etc. However, for my own work, I use Macs (840av in the lab, PowerCenter Pro 210 & now PB G3 at home). I've used both for years, and would never consider Windows for doing serious work (of course, your work is probably different from mine). There is no substitute.

However, the new job I'll be starting at the Beckman Institute (part of NCSA is located there, I think) takes a different approach: the best machine for the job. Yes, they use PowerMacs. But they also use DOS, Win95, WinNT, Linux...all the way up to super computers.

If you were looking to see if I was a convert from Win to Mac, then I'm going to disappoint you: except for my Power Computing machine, every machine I have owned since 1979 has been made by Apple.
