Three things could happen:
1. The Orb becomes a commercial success and both Iomega and Syquest are forced out of the market.
2. Without the Orb, Syquest and Iomega compete against each other until both companies become past tense.
3. Each company captures its own market niche and co-survives with other removal disk drive companies same as what happened in case of the fixed drive industry with QNTM, SEG, WDC, etc.

For this reason I believe that SYQT and Iomega short and long term outlook are not encouraging enough to attract large investments. These companies are for speculators and not for investors.
If syquest returns to positive cash flow with acceptable margin of profit and shows market share growth then it becomes an investment worth looking into.
