Divx, no special effects, and only pan-and-scan...............................

news-real.com

Video buffs are not expected to like Divx discs because they offer no special effects and only pan-and-scan views.

The first Divx units carry the brand-name of Glenview-based [ Zenith Electronics Corp. ] , and the electronic guts come from Zenith's parent, [ LG Electronics Corp. ]

William Sims, president of Zenith Sales Co., the sales and marketing arm of Zenith Electronics, said Divx "does not make standard DVD obsolete. We view it as an enhancement, as a value-added feature."

Blockbuster and DVD.

I had dinner last night here in Dallas with several friends and one was pretty high up at Blockbuster. They said there was going to be a major push this fall at Blockbuster for DVD. They were really going to encourage people to use and buy DVD all right before Christmas.
