As another long-time denizen of various electronic messaging forms, I certainly agree with what you are saying, Jeff. Response (or worse yet, confrontation) to intentionally provocative postings is NOT effective... silence is.

The dynamics of personal communication are very different in the relatively anonymous media of email, bulletin boards, chat rooms and the like. The visual and aural cues that all human beings learn (as children) to use as adjuncts to the spoken word are lacking... although emoticons and other devices serve similar as better-than-nothing replacements. Thus, inhibitions against annoying (or worse) behavior are lessened, and the chances of honest misinterpretation are increased.

The problem of repetition can arise from:
- deliberate provocation (see above)
- lack of time/interest in reading the (in our cases, voluminous) thread history... have seen other suggestions for an 'INFE Info Thread' - this would be helpful, IMO. Also, serves to weed out the deliberately provocative... point them to this thread and await their return with serious questions... continued spurious postings allow all to recognize their actual agenda.

P.S. Just checked out your profile... how can anyone 23 years old have 'many years on various message boards'?? (just kidding) I guess that one's notion of 'many years' changes with time/age ;-)

I started with USENET email and newsgroups in the early 80's... hard to believe what has happened to the 'net since then.

Have a nice Sunday, all - Occupying (smallish) positions on all three starships... and plan to be here a LONG time.

what gets me is why would someone put down the stock? If you own shares you want it to go higher... no? Thus these people must not own shares. But if thats the case, then why are they here.
