Hi Mark Fowler; About those 2 or 3 major players that are
gonna be selling books on the internet 10 or 20 years from
now...

Same sort of thinking back when PCs were young would
have led one to expect Tandy (with the TRS-80) or Altair,
(with the S-100) to be the major sellers of personal computers
today.

Fact is, the pioneers in totally new areas, (particularly ones
where there is no patent protection) are not that often
the survivors. And the undercapitalized pioneers get
taken out by the big guys.

Note Intel had patent protection, but a lot of companies
even with patent protection do not survive. Zilog, who
made the Z-80 processor chip for the TRS-80, got pushed
out of PCs and into embedded processors.

So why pay a high price for the pioneers, particularly the
ones that don't have patent protection against competition?
