b,

Good article!!

>>But Morency says the CoreBuilder 9000 will not topple Cisco. The product will sell well, as will new SuperStack remote access gear and 10M/100M bit/sec Ethernet network interface cards (NIC), he predicts. "But I don't see a gain of $2 billion to blast by [3Com's] competitor,'' Morency says. Cisco last year posted revenue of $7.3 billion.<<

One comment - the article talks about the new wave of
products and how it's very possible they will compete
with CSCO. That's great, but for the moment, COMS goal
is to just put points on the board. If it does this,
we will get a nice boost in price. That's what counts
for all of us at the moment. Challenging CSCO
products is secondary, and won't start 'till '99.

Also, to beat CSCO doesn't necessarily take a gigantic
increase, in sales revenue. Expensive CSCO products
may lose out to lower priced competitor's products.
