Good Morning to all from the TwinCities,

I logged on to the system yesterday and found the SIC search to be a good start (regarding upgrades), if it was not there before. I knew what I was looking for, I typed in a word which gave me a SIC, which took me to contacts. Hey, what was that saying about Rome?

Thanks for the clarification. This feature has been available before on the site and is a useful tool but does not encompass everything that is available in world markets for trade. What users need is a keyword search that foregoes the use of SIC codes entirely. I'll use my business market as an example. Video games are a multi-billion dollar business in the USA, Europe and Asia; traders in Asia need to find buyers in Europe and America for their hardware and/or accessories. If they were to only use SIC codes, they would never find buyers using PNLK's current search engine because no SIC codes exist for video-game hardware or software. SIC codes cover very broad categories and are very general; they are perfect for industrial goods and for commodities but they do not cover everything that world traders are looking for.

Another reason why search word capability is of paramount importance is because a lot of the more profitable global trade exists in niche products. These products will never have SIC codes assigned to them because their markets are not big enough or broad enough to warrant a SIC code. An example: global trade in Barbie dolls will never see a SIC code though the market certainly exists for them. The same thing goes for global trade in Beanie Babies. We can command high prices if we wanted to supply Beanie Babies to Belgium but the supply is too limited to third party distributors for us to consider it as a viable stream of revenue.

Regards,
Peter
