InfoSPINman: Congrats on once again taking some words, out of context, twisting them, re-verbalizing in the structure of your own propaganda, and then making accusations that actually seem plausible. STOP MISLEADING. Read the various posts about the DME and Dr. Maduna, and others; we are concerned shareholders, but have no quarrel with these people as we believe that a previous wrong (the improper registration of the mineral rights in March 1998 -- this alone is an act of "dirty pool") is going to be quickly righted. What Brazen statements? From your very first post, the one where you intentionally mislead readers into believing that you were an "heir", rather than a De Beers lackey, please post a reference to where this came from, so that anyone, other than your pal Gall, can verify any parts therein. As for social programs, it is nice to see that you have less interest in the money part now and are more in tune with the needs of the people. Have you been instructed to play up this angle, so that De Beers' support of Black Empowerment is less surprising? While SUF and their management have very quietly done what they felt appropriate for those less fortunate in the area, you have the unmitigated, shameless ability to infer that SUF, who found mineable deposits on land where De Beers found none, who discovered a rich, but small pipe called M1 on land that De Beers had forsaken has done nothing for the social betterment of the surrounding area. This, incredibly, is very likely the lipservice type of reaction from the old guard who point to their wonderful previous social programs as a solution to poverty, when in fact, their actions, control over employment, influence in old governments, etc. has done nothing except sustain the inequitable state of economic disparity in their favour. SUF has created new employment, well over 100 new employees at Klipspringer (how many did De Beers employ here in the 80's?), and is ready to employ hundreds more as soon as full mining rights are restored to them at M1. This is exactly the aim of the new government of RSA -- equality thru employment and empowerment. Just to develop this social bit a little further, lets pretend that De Beers actually found the M1 pipe in the 80's (check their correspondence with Randgold). Is it not correct to say that if the benevolent De Beers had mined M1 a decade ago, that this development would have led to increased employment, with corresponding economic benefit, with even greater exploration and development that would likely have led to further employment and social good? This is the vicious circle of economic development, the one that De Beers has kept sealed, or the one that they are unable to vision. While I enjoy the workout I'm getting in refuting the crap you spew so effortlessly, you'll be happy to know that I've spent much more effort in looking into De Beers actions in North America, and how we Canadians, can hope to protect ourselves from their sense of justice, much like our NAFTA partners have already done. It hurts many Canadians to say this, but on many business issues, our American friends are way ahead of us. But we learn quickly. Confluence
