shane--

well, i did include a caveat in my statement on DIVX sales<G>. it has to be marketed and advertised WELL. consumers are like analysts, they dont want to do the research...its easier to be told what to do.

in asia, DVD is already a pretty big deal. in china they are selling portable players.

only time will tell, but i feel pretty safe with 100k units worldwide by EOY.

on the winCE thing...this is a good thing, but you have to remember that ARM and VLSI arent the only ones building processors for winCE. as a side note, VLSIs investment in ARM is one of the reasons i own VLSI.

now, you have the HIT super H chip, NEC has one (but NEC seems to always shoot itself in the foot), samsung is supposed to have one based on alpha. who are casio/CPQ using for their CE chips? philips i think is making their own. so, its not like we are entering an unoccupied field. that being said, if VLSI makes the best product and i think they can since (based on my admittingly limited experience with CE devices) the ones available arent that good, they should sell tons of them.

good luck to all,
trey

"Worldwide semiconductor slump to last another year"
biz.yahoo.com

the whole article is about ram and cpu's, yet vlsi is listed as a
related company? talk about a perception problem..,
