Geoff -
Intel shares its 'price roadmap' with most of its customers - this is not an exact price calendar but gives the rough trend of pricing for the product line. They do this so that customers do not limit long term orders ahead of potential price cuts but instead can time their orders to minimize the inventory impact of component price changes.

It would therefore be surprising if a well managed company got hit by a significant disadvantage from processor or chipset price reductions. Of course the overall impact on work-in-progress and finished goods inventory will still be there for vendors who have a generally longer inventory position.
