Mike,
I'm going to refrain from getting into that debate. There are too many parts of the discussion that I would not be able to participate in. The only argument possible would be based on different fundamental assumptions of intent and motivation of each company involved. The assumptions you're making are that that Java is open, Sun's source release is positive for others in the industry, and that their ISO acceptance was positive for the industry and innovation. The strategy of these moves was brilliant on Sun's part, but I don't share your thinking on the issue.

I suspect that my disagreement would elicit a lot of flame from this thread, and I have no facts I can discuss to back up my beliefs. It's just my viewpoint.

Thanks though,
Mike
