Napkins? Placemats? What the hell are you thinking? And let him do his own damned wash. That ought to help keep his girlfriend at a respectable distance, or it will make him figure out how to get her to do his wash for him. You are going about this entirely the wrong way. Let him forage. A constant diet of Big Macs and candybars will give him a newfound respect for your efforts.

Penni, I guess I missed the very beginning of CW and the pool house story. Just coming in on the tail end of it, I have to agree with Freddy that a child who is becoming more independent might also derive a benefit from doing his own laundry. Thinking back on it, my recent experience is rife with remembered stories of other teenagers who were not happy with their living arrangements. My cousin's twin boys went to live with their natural father because they needed male bonding, an acquaintance's daughter went to live with her mother's sister because her mother didn't understand her, etc. Teenagers are amazingly sharp at understanding on some level what they think is missing for them, and the very best thing to do about it. Am I missing something important? Is CW living in the pool house with a GIRL?
