Hello moat,

Just wanted to add that U.S. West is also offering DSL in some areas:

(256kbps, $19.95 per month, $25.00 setup fee)

uswest.com

Office (256kbps-7Mbps, $34.95 per month, $25.00 setup fee)

uswest.com

Office LAN (256kbps-7Mbps, $79.95 per month, $50.00 setup fee)

uswest.com

Most of the differences in this are just in the associated services, number of mail accounts, etc. The prices for the Office and Office LAN products are for the base 256kbps bandwidth.

Answers to your questions ...

1. I have several friends that ordered the service about a month ago ... they were given specific install dates. (I have a frame-relay T1 now ... no use for DSL) I know that several of the install dates have now passed with *no* DSL being installed ... I'll be seeing one friend today and check the status ...

2. I have not seen the equipment yet ... I was told by a U.S. West employee that PairGain was being used, but I'm waiting for the installs to verify.

3. As listed above, the initial speed is 256kbps. Haven't heard the future speeds to be offered ... but I have to say that most people will be just fine with 256kbps ... if they ever get it to 1Mbps it will be more than enough for now.

I'll post an update as I get more information!
