one can not discount the aspect that a better club like the Miami Heat with new gear may come along in the subsequent year and knock the
heck out of 'um.<g>

LOL! So true though. The Bulls without Jordan right now would be in sorry shape. They made the playoffs without Jordan a few years ago but they had a better bench then. Pippen and Jordan are carrying way to much of the load. The dynasty is near its end but it has been incredible to watch! Dammit the Bulls are suppose to be tired, oh really? Better not tell them that.

Where's Malone?

Oh yeah, back to business.

In the bandwith wars lets not forget Satellite. Not right away but in a few years it could become a very serious player. One thing I keep thinking about is how the Cable Co's are going to handle customer service. I guess companies like @Home deal with that but I would have to hope they have refined their service in comparison to the current cable T.V service.

You make a good point about the "shared" network deal. I don't like the sound of that but I doubt the problem would be noticed until their are a lot of people connected on your block. We can't forget the current state of congestion on the net so I have to wonder - what's a few Megabits among neighbors. I doubt most would notice the difference between 9Mbps and 1Mbps, except in downloading large files.

As you must know by now Moonray...I live for the battle more so than the out come. I have multiple phone lines but no cable AND expect the VAST majority of people have phone and a much smaller percentage have cable...if that weren't true, satellite dish makers would have no market.

I'd have to disagree on your statement of Internet2 also...I think it has a high probability of predictability as to the effects it affects...or visa versa. <ggg>

Seriously...I place my bet this way based on the FCC giving private companies access to the RBOC's CO and permitting them to bypass the CO switch. This allows for true competition...where before the only choice for the private sector was to buy into the cable companies and attempt an end run around the RBOCs to get on to the backbone without excess costs...equal access to the backbone is the true means to inexpensive bandwidth.

The added benefit of this change is the RBOCs are now also forced to compete or they will loose out. Jhild should be dancing on the table now knowing another monopolistic roadblock has been removed. <gg>

BTW: Are those NBA teams you are referring to or music groups?
