The FPU performance of the Intel Pentium II is definitely behind the other chips, but the integer performance is quite competitive. The upcoming 21264 with projected specmarcs is also impressive. However, the article, like many such reviews, assumes that Intel is frozen in time and that the Intel performance benchmarks cited are and will remain fixed forever. Intel's upcoming XEON/SLOT 2 was not discussed and most certainly will show improved performance with its full speed L2 cache. That product is only a few weeks from introduction. And as we all know, Intel's product road map does not stop there. Paul
