Apple has (and has for many years) the highest customer satisfaction rating of any computer maker. This has been for as long as I can remember. If apple were truly out to "screw the consumer" their high rating would not be so.

I don't believe Apple is out to screw the consumer, but their screw-ups in the past probably should have hurt them more than they did. My only guess is that the good products/OS software they have shipped is good enough that they are forgiven their mistakes.

The 2300/5300 debacle damaged some users' goodwill, but the users I know who experienced those problems still bought more Macs when they were available and wrote off the bad portables rather than switching to Wintel.

As long as Apple continues to have easy-to-use software and hardware and product availability it will keep its current customers. It's getting the converts and new users that will determine Apple's success.
