Drillhole Crown-7 yields 543 diamonds
80% of Main Pipe diamonds to date are "White Transparent"
26% of the diamonds are "macros"
Crown-8 encounters 570 meters of kimberlite
Rupert Resources Ltd. is pleased to report diamond counts from drillhole Crown-7 at its Crown Diamond Mine Project in South Africa. These results, which substantiate and improve on previously reported results are detailed in the table below. A total of 21 samples with a combined weight of 514.99 kg were processed, representing 273.0 meters of core. The processing yielded 543 diamonds of which 143 exceeded 0.5mm in at least one dimension and 437 were white and transparent. The total weight of the 543 stones was 0.829 carats with the largest stone being white, transparent and weighing 9.44 points.

In the four Main Pipe holes processed to date an aggregate of 1.73 tonnes of kimberlite from 75 samples has yielded 1,706 diamonds of which 395 are macros. Stones greater than 1 mm in one dimension total 61.1% of the total weight of 1.61 carats. The five largest stones recovered to date from drillcore are 9.44, 9.37, 7.53, 6.43 and 5.97 points in size.

Drillhole Crown-7 was drilled from east to west, at an inclination of 55 degrees from the horizontal, to a final depth of 652.9 meters. Drillhole Crown-8 was completed to a final depth of 893.9 meters and was drilled at an inclination of 60 degrees from the horizontal, from east to west on a section about 50 meters south of Crown-6. Main Pipe kimberlite was first encountered at 324.2 meters in drillhole Crown-8 which continued in the Main Pipe to the end of the hole, a corelength of 569.7 meters. Drillhole Crown-9 was collared on the same section as Crown-8 and is drilling from west to east at a present depth of 24 meters. The hole is expected to reach the Main Pipe at about 330 to 350 meters downhole.

The major types of kimberlite encountered in Crown-7 are all very similar differing predominantly in the abundance of country rock xenoliths (CRX) as described below:

K2 (hypabyssal macrocrystic kimberlite or HMK) - quite pure with 0 to 15 % CRX but usually less than 10% CRX
K4 (hypabyssal macrocrystic kimberlite breccia or HMKB) - fairly pure with up to 40% CRX but usually 15% CRX
K6 (tuffisitic kimberlite breccia or TKB) - impure with 40 to 75 % CRX but usually 55% CRX

From surface to a depth of about 600 meters the Main Pipe kimberlite is mostly K6 with a relatively large proportion of country rock fragments. This K6 kimberlite is thought to be similar to the 4.5 million tonnes previously mined from the upper 240 meters of the Main Pipe which had an in-situ grade of about 30 carats per hundred tonnes (cpht). The Main Pipe kimberlite below 600 meters is dominantly K4 and K2 and therefore has much fewer country rock xenoliths and much higher diamond counts. It is therefore expected to have an in-situ grade considerably higher than 30 cpht.

* Macros are those diamonds for which one dimension exceeds 0.5 mm.
Split core samples are shipped to Lakefield research Limited under bonded security procedures. Extensive internal quality control is exercised by Lakefield.

The balance of the drillcore is retained on site for future reference, check analyses, petrographic examinations and mineral chemistry studies as necessary.

The same management team has another diamond vehicle, Contiki Resources, again developing known kimberlites, this time in Botswana. TKI is more grassroots, however.
