It's not necessarily a bad move. Buying the stock and selling the warrants creates a spread, which might work out better than staying with the warrants or buying the stock. If the stock moves up farther and faster than the warrants, the spread will tend to outperform. It can depend on how long you plan to hold them and your expectations for what the stock might/will do.
