Maybe I Can Wear The Noose Necktie For A Moment...

There are things about SEEK that have not set well
with me this year. But, in the bump-and-grind that
hit us around mid April, and especially after (mostly
grind), I wasn't
in any mood to confess to doubts. That's the problem
with polarized positions... and ONE of the problems of
the Yahoo! SEEK thread. The middle ground gets completely
lost. It's the first casualty of "war."

As to Harry working SEEK with a specific agenda
in mind, damn, I hope so. ( This quiet time is nothing
new... as you will painfully recall... we languished
in the 9's, the 18's, etc. ) One thing that DOES
trouble me is the lack of follow-up OF ANY SORT about
the Deutsche Telekom Memorandum of Understanding. I mean,
you might think that Harry or Barak or Kirsch might let
loose some hints in an interview somewhere... maybe even
in German... but no.

What I wonder about, too, is the much-anticipated
revamping of their Personal Finance channel. I wonder
if they can--or would--boot MS Investor content and strike
up a deal with CBS MarketWatch plus some sort of home-grown
message-board infrastructure.

Incidentally, as noted in an earlier post, their
NewsReal spin-off (they hold a minority interest in it)
is now live at www.news-real.com. And, beyond its CNNfn
deal, NewsReal will also be incorporated in Netopia's
Virtual Office section on the upcoming NetCenter. Ahhh,
the Web makes for mighty strange bedfellows.

(BTW, my "$4" reference wasn't aimed at you... until
you pointed it out, I hadn't even noticed that reference
in your post. I just picked that number 'cause (I think)
it's SEEK's historic low.)

In closing, I like the relaxed nature of the room
right now. It'll change for sure. More whooping and
weeping, bleeding and bludgeoning ahead. But, not tonight,
not now.

Glad you've bookmarked us, again.

Best Regards, Augie
