That's what I believe I heard as well. However, she did quote the source as saying that BAY had received a $40 buyout offer from Nortel and that the board would consider it over the weekend at a special board meeting.

For some reason, it just does not sound like it has the ring of truth to it. For 1, BAY closed down on Friday -- usually a sure sign that it won't happen immediately, 2. Maria's "source" seemed to be the only source trumpeting such an offer, and 3. Sunday's all but in the books and no news. Woulda happened by now if it was gonna happen this weekend or this week, IMHO.

So, brace yerselves BAY longs. This could be a rough week w/o any new news to kindle the rumors.

That would probably be that CNBC dork, David Faber. If a deal does go through, he will claim to have announced it first.
