You're thinking too complex. Started year with 100K cash and ended with 200K cash, with no additions or subtractions, just pure trading.

THEN YOUR SHORT-TERM CAPITAL GAINS/LOSSES SHOULD NET OUT TO BE $100,000. THAT IS A GOOD "CONTROL" FIGURE TO USE TO MAKE SURE YOUR TAX RETURN ADDS UP TO THE CORRECT TAXABLE INCOME.
