Freeus, not an uncommon approach to covering bad timing or unrequited investments in the labor of R&D/develpoment. I'm sure that I am not alone when I say that I've seen software development firms do this "on occasion," claiming that their development work was valued at x y z, and it never turned out to anything much, due to platform changes and upgrades which their products were not up to. Yet, whether the work was actually done or not <who really knows?>, they showed these as either assets or losses, amortized over three to five years sometimes, depending on what the 'stew' called for at the time. And so it goes...
