Now you don't want to be able to do that. In fact you shouldn't have to do anything in MP. If _you_ (the user) has to do something then most corporations won't want it. Why? Higher TCO. And TCO is the big thing these days.

Sure a power user wouldn't mind, but the market in general would say "no thanks.. gimme something easy". That's what NT does. It spread out threads accross CPUs based on usage of the CPUs and thread power demands. The problem is that MANY application only have one computational thread (and most now have a seperate UI thread), but that doesn't do much. You need the computational thread borken into 4 or more threads. The problem is that if you don't have a MP system at your finger tips you pay a fairly hefty (20%+) penalty on those computation.

So it's a lose/lose situation. Slower and more complex. That will change when MP become common, but it isn't now and won't be for another year. (note there are cases where MP is common, but those are special markets).
