>Would be good timing to raise Quantum to a moderate buy, etc.
Hey, you powerful person you!!!! QNTM up 3/4 today on your idle suggestion! You need to send Sam an invoice for your fee :o)

What do you think about that offering Mark? They have less than 100 million in PPE so it looks like they would be the least vertical and purest drive manufacturer of the majors. They have more than twice that just in receivables.

Best Regards....Tom

Mark writes >I may be cynical, but I wonder if we will see a series of upgrades or speakers saying that things are looking better for the storage industry as they prepare to get buyers for the Maxtor offering?<

Today, on CNBC, it's reported that Salomon Smith Barney, who will be lead managing the Maxtor offering, have upgraded SEG after speaking with SEG management. Salomon Smith Barney is predicting SEG will report a profit in the upcoming quarter of 4 cents a share, and that the downturn in the disk drive sector may be over.

Also, Cramer of thestreet.com was plugging SEG this weekend, CNBC reports.

(Actually, from what I remember, Cramer started talking positively about the disk drive sector at least a week or two ago. More specifically, he went from a very negative attitude on the sector some time back (which turned out be be a good or lucky guess), to a neutral or slightly positive attitude a short while ago. [I haven't read or heard his latest comments on the disk drive sector].)

Best regards,

Larry
