Having lived in Europe for several years, I can vouch for how sophisticated their computer networks are, and how archaic their telephone systems are. The marriage of IP technology with their telephone industry is not only natural, but will revolutionize people's lives. Furthermore, Germany is the hub of European high tech, so as they adopt VoIP, eastern Europe will certainly follow, and it will spread rapidly to the rest of Europe -- it is already happening, it is more of a question of who will get the biggest share. My bet is on a small, sharp, imaginative company whose CEO knows how to close deals, and knows how to work with local governments in a win-win situation!
