lisa- Someone may have already suggested this, but any magnetic field (could be caused by an appliance usually one with a motor) can interfere with a computer monitor. It's more likely that if a magnetic field exists it is caused by electric wiring in the wall or floor that you can't see and that is the source of the magnetic field. This is especially possible in an office environment where you could have wiring or an electric transformer (acts like a motor) behind a wall and the magnetic field can be very strong and since you can't see it and could be the cause. If you had access to an Gauss Meter (measures the strength of a magnetic field) this could let you know if a magnetic field that's strong enough to effect you monitor. Some electric utilities will come out for free and measure magnetic fields for free because of the concern over the possible health effects of EMFs (electric and magnetic fields). You'd really have to have a big hair drier or vibrator held close to you monitor to see much effect. -Neal
