Enterprise is in and by the tone of McData's announcements, it appears as though McData has a stronghold in this category particularly with IBM. Ancor and McData are both small companies and I still cannot foresee larger customers such as IBM locking in to a single vendor. It would be informative to hear comments from Ancor on this recent press from McData.

McData is a very reputable supplier of High End Networking and Systems Connectivity solutions, with a proven track record. Their Director Product is a high availability FC Switch which will scale to high port count numbers within a single switch. The thing to remember about using multiple 16 port switches as fabrics, is that the inter-switch link becomes the throughput bottle neck.

The Director is not a Silkworm.

Thomas,

Looks like the announcements we have all been waiting for. Craig - you were right. But if
you go to the McData web site their Enterprise FC switch stats look surprisingly like the
Silkworm's. Roy - can you enlighten us?
