Yes, there are a lot of little guys using GL, IL, etc., but GL is still accumulating a huge amount of shares and I don't think these are just a few "small guys" cause of the money involved. As you likely know, we are talking roughly 200-500 k shares per month since last Oct. or so. Also, I think the discount houses are a good choice for those who know (at least think they know) what they are doing for exactly the reasons you mentioned, ie, no research required. As we have seen from BRE-X, the research that people are charged for by full service firms is sometimes worse than no advice at all...and the lawyers working on BRE-X are all licking their chops as they re-focus on several large brokerages now that Walsh has checked out.
