Am running four 21" monitors on a single 4-port STB card. No problems to date. Have not tried multiple video cards in same PC.

I disagree with this statement. It is the application that determines how much CPU processing power is required. Some applications like 3D games may require a lot of CPU processing power to run on some adapters. I am sure there is an exception to the rule but to the best of my knowledge trade station applications require very little CPU processing power to display data.
