Bituminous coal: Low sulfur, low ash content, high BTU, clean burning.

Brandy,
Recoverable is the the amount of coal in the ground. It's kind of a nebulous term depending on the mining method that can be used to recover the coal. EX. If you can strip mine it, most of the coal can be recovered. If you have to use room and pillar mining, your recovery is greatly reduced.

Bituminous is a quality grade of coal. Anthracite is a better grade as it has a higher carbon content, Bituminous is next, followed by lignite and peat.

Bituminous is further graded according to it's sulfur content, low sulfur is good.
