FINANCING SPEC. 20 LISTED / CanBaikal Extends Warrants

CANBAIKAL ANNOUNCES EXTENSION OF EXERCISE PERIOD ON WARRANTS

CALGARY, June 9 /CNW / - CanBaikal Resources Inc. (''CBQ'') is pleased to
announce that it has received approval from the Alberta Stock Exchange to
extend the expiry date on the Corporation's outstanding share purchase
warrants (CBQ.wt) from June 30, 1998 to June 30, 1999. This extension relates
only to the expiry date for exercise of the warrants. The public trading of
the warrants on the Alberta Stock Exchange will cease on June 30, 1998.
Robert Bolton, Chairman and C.E.O. of CanBaikal stated, ''This extension
of the expiry date on our outstanding warrants will allow our founding
shareholders a more reasonable time frame to realize value on the warrants
they hold. The drop in oil prices and the subsequent fall in the oil and gas
equity markets just before the warrants are to expire is a case of very bad
timing.''
The Alberta Stock Exchange has neither approved nor disapproved of the
information contained in this press release.
