most of the time is apps. 95's poor archecture doesn't handle software exceptions well as you seem to understand. This is HUGE hole for a modern OS. I reboot my UNIX workstations at work no more than twice a year. Usually for hardware upgrade. Applications will always have bugs so in a multitasking environment its essential to provide barriers between programs to ensure system stability. Windows 95 and 98 fail miserably in this respect....
