John,

Good points. Look at some of the "pains" men have gone through to have sex. Many have contracted deadly diseases including AIDS and syphyllus to name a few. Sex was so desirable that reward outweighed the risk. Many long nights in smoke filled bars. Money spent drinking and smoking that can be spent on more healthy endevors.

Now we suddenly hear that sticking MUSE in the penis is such a painful ordeal. The possiblity of some men feeling warmth or some burning was a known factor when Vivus was a $40.00/share stock just as it is as a $7.00/share stock. The fundamentals of the product have not changed since January 1997. Many men who use MUSE are happy with the product which explains why the refill rate has not declined as much as the new script rate since the release of Viagra.

The refill rate has averaged about 4,500/week or 900/day before Viagra's release. Now it is at 684/day which is a 23% decrease. This tells me that more than 3/4 of the old regular MUSE patients are still using the product 2 months after Viagra has been available and it is safe to say that these patients will not be going to Viagra ever.

The new script numbers have been pounded down badly.
This only means that Viagra is being offered as a first choice instead of MUSE. Viagra failures will slowly come out of the closet and admit that they need alternative therapy. This fact will be reflected in the June and July script data. Viagra can break the ice of embarassment towards ED and MUSE can take care of those truly in need of a serious local therapy.

Dr. Andrews, PZA

Good post. Thanks for the remark...I think!

I'm assuming you have read my earlier posts concerning the whole pain, woman/man, foreplay, do anything to renew, yada yada yada thing, so I will save your and everyone else's time by not going into it again. But you are correct; people, be they man or woman, IMO, are willing to go thru some pain to achieve the desired ends. (I'm sidestepping just like Mark Haines on CNBC this morning...except that I'm not blushing!)

The ends justify the means...unless your talking death, or blindness, or birth defects....then, they do not. Here is where MUSE will win out eventually. The perverbial hare and tortoise race here, gentleman. My money is still on the tortoise.

All of your points are very good ones. Especially since at one time or the other, I have voiced the same opinions! <gg>

It's late, and I just felt like throwing my 2 cents in. HEY..I'm past due!

Have a great Tuesday, everyone. I'm proud to be in the same boat with all of you galoots!

E'Lane......smile!
