They rely on two very important things:

1) They can claim they are a "development stage company" for years on end.

2) Science illiteracy among many small investors and a surprising number of "analysts".

Steve,

I think that there's more sophistication in the market for things computer (especially hardware) than with biotech. People are very familiar with electronic consumer goods, and probably understand the competitiveness of the market. However, the biotech "story" stocks can take a lot of people for a ride. Witness my favorite biotech at btim.dyn.ml.org

I've been arguing my points for 4 months now, and I don't think I've gotten anywhere with the long-oriented boards.
