Tue 9 Jun 98 News Release
Mr. Albert Gerry reports
Cambior, the company's joint venture partner, has resumed drilling on its
massive sulphide project, La Plata, in central Ecuador. The drilling which
started in April was delayed due to extremely heavy tropical rains that
washed out the roads leading to the company's drilling target area. The
drilling program will be staged and is designed to test the extent of the
known rich horizon as previously reported in the company's March 6, 1998
news release. The step out holes will be 50 metres apart and along strike
starting just south of hole No. 20 which ran 16m of 11 g/t gold, 79 g/t
silver, 7.7 per cent copper and 2.9 per cent zinc.
The company has granted Ecuadorian Minerals of Scottsdale, Arizona, a
30-day extension, until July 17, 1998, on the due diligence period
regarding the proposed sale of the company's Ponce Enriquez gold properties
as the company previously announced in its April 20, 1998 news release. The
additional time is required to complete the documentation of the agreements
between all the principals and third parties involved.
The company has appointed Kelvin Dushnisky to the board of directors. Mr.
Dushnisky is currently the president and director of International Vestor
Resources, senior vice president and director of Redfern Resources and vice
president, regulatory affairs of Sutton Resources.
