Re long-term quality of Mark Skousen's advice.... Can't give you a purely *quantitative* answer, but the fact that I have stuck with it for 15-16 years or so indicates that I generally approve of his work and find value to me in it.

He is *not* a trader. His recommendations are oriented toward what I would call intermediate term -- holding for perhaps 8-15 months. I value his ability to explain the economic basis behind his assessment of the market.

For lurkers: Skousen is *not* a trader. His recommendations are more what I call "intermediate" in nature -- probably averaging 6-18 months holding time. He is value oriented, but places this upon his perspective of the economic currents underlying the markets in general. His approach is probably a bit tame for many who frequent these SI threads.
