Spider vs. Aircard for Wireless Quotes

I think I'm getting enough information
now to reach a decision. The Toshiba
Liberetto only has one Type II PCMCIA
slot. The Aircard actually uses TWO
Type II slots, and draws power from
the COM Port, while the Spider Card
uses One Type III slot only. So at
minimum, you would need a Type III
card for an elegent portable solution.
That's probably why MicroAge will recommend
the Portege 320CT, because it's the smallest
unit that features a Type III slot, or
two stacked Type II's.

As for the updating of quote when the
computer emerges from sleep mode, I am
still trying to nail that issue down with
your tech support guys. They keep trying
to answer me, but keep giving the company
lines from help desk software, instead of
intuitive answers. It seems the software
works closer to the Internet connected model
than the FM-push data model, however, the
Celular phone is really more of a connection
to a packet traffic network, then an analogue
modem connection, so it makes these issues
harder to nail down. I certainly hope the
people at your demo are not just locally
hired skirts, but rather people who actually
know what the hell they are talking about.

AJ, Yes Stockedge / Signal Online does pull all the quotes for the current prices as it connects to the server initially. If you later add another symbol it will insert it into your interest list on the server and pull the most recent quote on that. Then any time there is a trade or quote on any symbols in your interest list it will push the new data to you as long as you are connected. This is the DBC technology we refer to as "Active Push".

The same technology works on time and sales, intraday or interday charts. As you request them it pulls the data from the servers and then continues to dynamically update them from the pushed data. This thin client - fat server technology means you have the whole market available as you need it and don't have to worry about collecting or managing all the millions of ticks and gigibytes of historical data that is all available to you upon demand. This is great stuff!!
