Yes, some people are drawn to religion and spirituality as a crutch.
That is absolutely true. It is also true that many intelligent, healthy, people are also drawn to it because they see value, meaning, and truth in it. That is also just as true.

Now, I am not nearly intelligent enough to know who is right. I can only go forward with my own thoughts and opinions derived from my own life experiences.

I just think it is wrong to label any group form anyside of the equation(extreme relgious conservatism, new age spirtual seeker, aetheist, or whatever) as completely wrong and an easy mark.
Growth as a human being is a life long process and hopefully is achieved through honest assessment and challenging of our own and of otheres belief systems. That can only really happen with honest dialogue where everyone's opinion is respected, or at the minimum, tolerated.
