David-
Q has provision against a non friendly takeover, however with the proposed spin-off things may be easier. See:
biz.yahoo.com

Although an ericy takeover may make a lot financial sense, I seriously doubt Q's management could stomach it with all the history behind the two. Personally, I always thought LU may be interested.

Hopefully if you call 'em, you've got to put your $ into them, so we can all argue while drinking rum and eating mangos on a 70 ft sailboat on the way to St. Lucia.

David,

There's been some discussion about a takeout. 80$ has been thrown around. Some influential members of the thread, i.e Gregg Powers, feel that price would be far to low. I concur. This discussion has been superficial.

If my memory is correct Q has a poison pill which prohibits a hostile buyer from receiving royalties from Q IPR, although I assume ERICY could take over Q and use its IPR,it just couldn't collect royalties from it, which might suit ERICY just fine. It's conceivable that this is Ericy strategy..Create this fuss over standards, weaken Q stock price, and then take them out. I agree with Caxton however that these two co's have spent years at eachothers throats so it certainly couldn't happen on a friendly basis....Perhaps ERICY would buy them and gut them, who knows? I don't think Lu would get very much that it doesn't already have. Wall St isn't treating Q like a takeover candidate.....Dave
