3, great post! That's exactly why Techie's posts have rubbed me wrong.

LoD

>>Actually, Techie, I hope that DELL does go down short term, so I can close some covered calls cheaply. But I am still a LONG-TERM DELL bull.

So why am I bothered? The point is simply this: there are a lot of people who read this thread and invest in DELL. Many of them are relatively new to doing personal investing; some may have significant portions of their entire capital base 'at risk'.

As I see it, one of the functions of a forum such as this is to minimize the FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt) factor by providing factual data upon which to build decisions. A portion of the process is learning how to screen factual data from opinion and rumor. Another is learning how to evaluate that factual data in regards to company performance and potential. Still another portion is learning how to determine when various posters have hidden agendas, and to learn how to determine what they are.

Your unwillingness to provide factual substantiation for your assertions places you (in my book) squarely in the middle of the FUD camp. Without substantiation, your data falls into the rumor category. The fact that you continue to post negative innuendo and rumor on a stock thread, when you assert that there are better long opportunities elsewhere, indicates that you have a short position in this stock, which you have thus far been unwilling to openly acknowledge. That falls under the category of 'hidden agenda'.

If a forum such as this had been available when I first started investing, it is likely I could have avoided a lot of mistakes I made, and might be fairly wealthy now. Now I have the time, the experience, and the inclination to pass on what I have learned.

JBN3,
Hi!!! <<<That falls under the category of 'hidden agenda'. >>>

Gosh, you know I have oodles of info in my bibles from so many on this thread telling me why Dell is a long...quite frequently one is mislead and outright lied to in someone's attempt to "steer" some small time and uninformed investor into selling (another scare tactic)...a victim of this "game" who may never return to investing based on a bad decision they made...these "games" will always be played and as I have noted so much valuable info comes out from individuals like yourself in countering the misconceptions frequently "created"...Not forgetting the good and integrity of this thread it should be pointed out that your constant watch over this truth should be recognized...so many should be thanking you for the factual, honest and informative posts you have provided for so long...we are all still learning...I would hope it would be everyone's obligation to be honest when posting...but, I highly doubt this will always be the case... Bachman, thanks again for keeping the thread fool proof.

Best, Kemble
