That was the conclusion the press reached on their own and was beyond the scope of anything Intel said.

Your "impressions" are your own. Its improtant to distinguish what are individual impressions and what was actually said/done. I've seen many instances where the "press version" of events becomes substituted for actual history. The real truth is seldom exciting enough to sell papers - what sells papers is the sensationalistic musings of press and analysts.

Am I cynical, sure, but its probably well founded in experience.
