Dear Ann,
Personally I don't trust birth control to someone else and that should be taught and not with a bitter attitude but a fact of loving yourself and being responsible for yourself.
My mother deeply desired to have an abortion when she found out she was pregnant with me and I am glad that she did not and she was wrong that she could not handle having me. She made mistakes as any and every parent does. The real problem is selfishness and that is a big one. The Bible teaches that a center on self is the source of destruction. True self esteem is reaching out to others and realizing you are a good person that loves others.
Speaking as a woman I will say that abortion is unnecessary. If there was more teaching on being loving and having self control this could be totally avoided and when an unfortunate pregnancy occurs there are childless couples that are available and desperately desiring the child.
Alan has been right with me through the entire parenting and knows as much as anyone the requirements of being a parent. The problem to me is that the men convince and abandon women when they are found to be pregnant. I am sure that Jesus would ask the women where their partner is. But whatever the cost and sacrifice is a child is the greatest gift from God and is well worth the effort and actually the parent gains from the experience.
Many Churchs are finally IMO doing the will of the Lord in this matter by reaching out to women and taking them into their homes and paying for their medical care and taking care of them through the pregnancy. That is what I see Jesus would do and help find a good home for the child if necessary or just help her get a job and get established to aid her as a single parent etc... See talk is cheap and people can sit around and accuse women of being mrderers but in actuality Jesus says that if you slander another person you are a murderer. So love is the answer IMO and that comes from God. Isn't summer fun. I get mixed emotions as I enjoy being with them just maybe not quiet this much.
Have a great day,
Nancy
