James, interesting article in Newsweek: "The Lizard Was a Turkey." Details how the movie mavens sucker-punched Taco Bell and the theater owners. Says the flick has grossed $110M in the U.S. in three weekends, half of what Sony had predicted. Key point: "The marketing of 'Godzilla' turns out to be the movie's one stroke of genius." Sony spent some $175M to make and market the film. Speculation is that they will recover their expenses and then some. No mention of our good buddies with the video rights, but as JMed has pointed out, they voted early and often, so to speak, so we should do okay regardless. ggg.
