If you don't feel like you just can't possibly stand
to reinstall all your apps, definitely do a clean
install and lose the registry bloat. For a little
while, anyhow.

HOWEVER, unless you ran EARLY betas, Win 95 didn't come
out till August 95; 2 years, 9 months ago. It just
SEEMS like 4 years <GG>. Seems to me I've been running
NT 4.0 for 10 years <GGGG>.

Glad the updates worked for you.

Yes in my opinion you should go for a clean install when you install Win 98 and get rid of your bloated registry and windows\system directory.

Spots thanks I am glad you were able to come up with a solution so quickly.

As an afterthought, the /L switch doesn't do anything but
ensure the drive letter (and it can cause trouble if it
conflicts with a hard drive partition). LASTDRIVE was
no doubt the root of the problem (its lack, that is). Without
/L you could still see the CD without /L, provided there
was an available letter for it.
