"No wonder I turned out the way I did." Well, indeed, your literary podge is certainly hodged. I'd forgotten Lady Chatterly's Lover, as well as Ada by Vladimir Nabokov. All those books that my first girlfriend and I read together. Well, not together, one of us actually read them first.

Mr. Bear's Stumpy Tail. Probably the first book that I insisted on having read to me nightly. Funny how you do that when you're a kid, even though you know exactly how it's going to turn out. Mr. Bear once had a tail like a fox, only the fox became envious. So one cold winter day the fox showed up with a big tasty fish, and convinced Mr. Bear that he caught it by dropping his tail through a hole in the ice on the river. So Mr. Bear did this, and the water froze again, and his tail came off. And that's why bears have stumpy tails.

You sure you never read this one??

Well, I forgot the Happy Hollisters!!! From about seven to nine, until I got serious and started wearing glasses, this was my very favorite, maybe because their family was so much happier than mine!! Also, I forgot "Little Women". What a wonderful book!!

Just when did you read "The Diaries of Anais Nin"? She did not observe many of the moral niceties that nice married American women do, Penni. I hope you were mature and well settled in when you discovered her!! ;^)
