I think you will find that it is 5% of sales, not margins. Also that software margins are a lot fatter than the margins on hardware which makes up the other 95% of revenue. Consequently, doubling software as a percentage of sales also improves total margin percentage. The real problem is that even 25% software buried in a hardware company is not enough to make the market value the enterprise using software multiples.

Seagate does have rising lows. The MR technology will have to bring the disk drive stocks out of the dumper.
